FreudAyed is a 28-year-old Palestinian who is a field psychologist, working at the Jabaliya refugee camp in Gaza. The camera follows him as he goes on home visits in the camp.
Ayed gives therapy to young Inas who has thoughts of suicide, to Maysa who has had traumatic experiences, to Hanan living in extreme poverty, to Abed – a former militant and suicide bomber driver. Ayed is a dedicated psychologist who attempts to offer his patients a life of light and warmth. Even though he also has serious doubts as to whether he is capable of helping them. “A million psychologists are needed in Gaza,” he says.
